Our supply chain business teams are focused on providing trade solutions for large supply chains. These solutions are designed to add value to large buyers/suppliers and their trading counterparties. With a combination of specialist trade expertise and global reach, HSBC has the capability to develop and implement solutions across your supplier/buyer network.

HSBC can customise a solution to meet your exact requirements. A wide range of solutions from automated DC issuance to paperless open account trade are available to our customers. Some of these include:

Paperless trade

HSBC is at the forefront of paperless trade technology. For example we run a full paperless, open account platform with a large buyer and its Asian-based suppliers. This platform is based on an open communications infrastructure to promote connectivity between the buyer, suppliers, HSBC and other supply chain parties such as freight forwarders, customs bodies etc.

Document imaging

This solution is simpler to implement and involves a paper document presentation by suppliers to HSBC. HSBC will then scan these documents into an image repository for viewing and acceptance by the buyer. Suppliers will have online access to purchase order (PO) details, transaction status and finance products. Back office integration and PO reporting for the buyer are also possible.

Automated DC issuance

This is a stable supply product for HSBC via VAN (value-added network), encrypted e-mail or FTP (file transfer protocol). HSBC will receive your purchase orders and automatically pool these into documentary credit (DC) templates for automated issuance. To achieve this we will work closely with you to develop a PO database specifically designed around your requirements and processes.

Finance

HSBC recognises that trade finance is an important part of any supply chain. We are already working with existing clients to provide a range of pre- and post-shipment finance products covering all of our platforms and both DC- and open account-based trade.

Integration and reporting

HSBC has expertise in providing customised back office integration to ensure the seamless two-way flow of trade information between HSBC and the client's back office. PO reporting is available and can be tailored to your requirements.

Document insourcing

If you are a large supplier, HSBC can prepare and dispatch export documents on your behalf using a mix of technology and expertise, thereby allowing you to benefit from significant cost savings and increased resource flexibility.
